After learning of the marital infidelity associated with the rape allegation made against Kobe Bryant back in 2003, some believed the Los Angeles Lakers superstar was innocent, while others thought he was guilty and things would eventually catch up to him.

For those who believed the latter, it has happened.

Kobe Bryant's wife of 10 years, Vanessa Bryant, filed for divorce on Friday, citing irreconcilable differences between them, according to media accounts referencing the divorce documents. The main difference, TMZ reported, centers on fidelity -- Vanessa believes Kobe has been unfaithful, yet again.

Kobe, who was charged with one count of felony sexual assault in Colorado eight years ago that was eventually dismissed by an Eagle County judge, admitted his infidelity during a Los Angeles press conference in 2003. Vanessa, who sat by Kobe's side, said afterward her husband had made a mistake but that he was not a criminal. Ever since, Vanessa has continued to stick by Kobe. But now, according to TMZ, she just couldn't do it anymore.

She's been dealing with these incidents for a long time and has been a faithful wife, but she's finally had enough, said a TMZ source. This one is the straw that broke the camel's back.

TMZ also reported that despite everything that has happened, Kobe desperately wants to win Vanessa back and will do whatever it takes to save the marriage.

According to the divorce documents, Vanessa is asking for joint custody of the couple's two daughters, 8-year-old Natalia and 5-year-old Gianna. In addition, Vanessa is asking that Kobe get visitation rights.

The couple released a joint statement saying that they have resolved all issues incident to their divorce privately with the assistance of counsel and a judgment dissolving their marital status will be entered in 2012, The Associated Press reported. They also asked that in the interest of our young children and in light of the upcoming holiday season the public respect our privacy during this difficult time.
