Diversified environmental services company, Ecosphere Technologies, Inc. announced Friday that the company will participate in remediation efforts related to the BP oil spill; the announcement followed a Letter of Intent between Mid-Gulf Recovery Services, LLC and the company’s majority owned subsidiary Ecosphere Energy Services, LLC.

Ecosphere’s newest products will be deployed to the Gulf region, including the Ecosphere Ozonix Systems. The patented technology is a non-chemical water treatment system specifically built for removing oil and chemicals from water.

John Kuelbs, Chairman of Ecosphere Energy Services, stated, “We look forward to working with Mid-Gulf Recovery Services to assist the people in the Gulf from the tragic consequences that are happening as a result of the BP offshore platform incident and resulting oil spill. Our Ecosphere Ozonix units will bring a non-chemical solution to the clean-up effort.”

Glen Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Mid-Gulf Recovery Services, added, “Mid-Gulf’s expertise is responding to natural disasters. We are excited to be combining decades of experience and rapid response with Ecosphere’s breakthrough technology to begin the massive clean up of the Gulf’s marshes and inland waterways. Our teams working together can make a real difference to the Gulf region that is being so devastated by the oil spill. Additionally, Ecosphere’s unique non-chemical systems will allow us to clean-up and recover oil and not do further damage to the environment with chemical processes.”
