Brazilian Iron Ore Exports Up 13% in Nov

November exports of iron ore from Brazil grew 13 per cent to 23.2 million metric tonnes over October, according to latest data from Brazil's National Union of the Industry of Extraction of Iron and Base Metals.

However, the latest November statistics showed a decline of 9.2 per cent from a year ago shipments.

Brazil's very own Vale, the world's largest iron ore exporter, contributed 90.8 per cent to the country's November iron ore exports at 21 million metric tonnes, a fall of 4.8 per cent year on year.

Brazilian iron ore exports likewise slumped in the first 11 months of 2011 to 251.7 million metric tonnes, down one percent from a year ago.

Vale's share in Brazil's total iron ore exports in the January-November 2011 period hit 91.4 per cent at 230 million metric tonnes, up 0.8 per cent compared to the same period in 2010.

Apart from Brazil, the other iron ore producers of the world include Australia, India and China.

Vale is the world's second largest diversified mining company and is present in more than 30 countries.
