It seems like the Oregon Ducks change uniforms like the average Joe changes a pair of socks. Every day is some combination of yellow, green, black, gray and/or white. On Jan. 2, the Ducks will yet again be sporting a new uniform, courtesy of Nike, against the Wisconsin Badgers for the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., according to a University of Oregon press release. However, this go-around doesn't involve just a change in colors and patterns. The material making up the newest Nike Pro Combat look is practically state-of-the-art.

Nike calls it Chain Maille Mesh, which they have incorporated into the jersey's back and underarms as well as down the sides of the pants for breathability and thermoregulation without sacrificing durability. Another fabric called the Nike Pro Combat Deflex padding layer is supposed to keep the body cool and keep away sweat.

All the material mentioned will be good for the player, but what is sure to be a treat for those watching the game will be the redefined uniform design, not the innovation. The numbers on the back of the jerseys change color as the players move. Even more notable, the helmet features a liquid black finish that Nike says has never before been seen on the field. It will also include bright wings with a mirrored appearance on each side with the school's O logo placed on the top-center of the back rather than on the traditional sides of the helmet.

Oregon represents the gold-standard when it comes to merging science and innovation with athletic performance and we are excited to continue our partnership with Nike by unveiling the next iteration in uniform innovation for the Rose Bowl said Oregon Ducks Head Football Coach Chip Kelly. Nike always starts by listening to the voice of the athlete as they continue to bring the most intuitive technology to the game.

Viewers will be able to check out the new unis in live action when the Rose Bowl starts at 1:30 p.m. PST. Kickoff is set for 2:10 p.m. PST. However, if you want to check them out before players slip them on, click the slideshow.
