Logan Kushner, 19, of Safety Harbor, Fla., drowned after taking synthetic drugs in Kapok Park, police reported.

Kusher smoked an herbal blend -- often used as synthetic marijuana -- before jumping into a creek in the park. He drowned after his friend left him to get home in time for his curfew.

According to the police report, his friend had tried to persuade him to get out of the water, but the victim refused.

His friend left him at the park and tried to call him when he got back home. When he couldn't reach him, he called other friends that live near the park to go and check on the victim. When the friends went to the creek area to check on him, they found him unresponsive in the water, the report read.

Paramedics were called but by the time the victim got to Mease Countryside hospital he was pronounced dead.

Synthetic marijuana is sold in the form of herbal incense sticks and marketed as 100 percent organic herbs, but the effects, if smoked, are similar to those of normal marijuana.

Synthetic marijuana is a mixture of dried leaves from traditional herb plants and comes in various colors including green, brown, blonde and red.
