Canada-based itravel2000, a leading online travel retailer, has listed its top 12 destinations for 2012, based on online booking trends and consumer inquiries.

The list reveals a distinct interest in emerging destinations, as compared to last year. Traditional destinations such as Varadero, Cuba, and Orlando, Fla., are still mainstays, but destinations such as Aruba also have caught the attention of Canadian travelers this year, according to Jonathan Carroll, president of itravel2000.

Here's a list of its top 10 destinations for 2012.

1. Riviera Maya, Mexico
