The 2012 Golden Globes celebrated the best films, television shows, actors and actresses in Hollywood late Sunday. The awards ceremony hosted by British comedian Ricky Gervais was also a show in of itself.

With comedic bits, a song from Felicity Huffman and a dance number from Jimmy Fallon, the Golden Globes sought to entertain its audience and viewers at home while honoring Hollywood's best. While some jokes fell flat and others offended, most were well-received and the audience laughed along with its host.

Golden Globes were given out to the best actors, actresses, composers, directors and more in featured films and television shows this year. Among others, Meryl Streep (The Iron Lady) won the award for best actress in a motion picture drama, George Clooney (The Descendants) won the award for best actor in a motion picture drama, Michelle Williams (My Week with Marilyn) won the award for best actress in a motion picture comedy and Jean Dujardin (The Artist) won for best actor in a motion picture comedy.
