Snoring Dormouse Becomes YouTube Sensation [VIDEO]

A cute dormouse snoring in deep sleep has become a virtual sensation on the Internet.

The footage, taken by Surrey (the UK) Wildlife Trust Mammal Project Officer Dave Williams, was originally uploaded on YouTube in October 2011. The original video was uploaded without the sound of breathing. More than half-a-million people watched it.

Now Williams was able to retrieve the sound of the animal's breathing and added it to the video. The latest footage, which was uploaded on the YouTube late in December 2011, has already been watched by nearly two million people.

Dormice spend nearly a third of their life sleeping and survive on the fat reserves during their hibernation which normally starts in early winter. The video was shot when the little animal was taken out to be checked for the fat reserves in its body.
