An approximately 14-pound baby boy named Asher was born on Thursday, to Kendall Stewardson at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Stewardson gave birth to Asher without the help of surgery and without an epidural injection. She went through six hours of labor, because she and her husband Joshua wanted to avoid a C-section, fearing it's effect on the baby.

Baby Asher is 23 ½ inches long and weighs 13 pound and 13 ounces, according to The Associated Press.

The AP report also stated that Asher's brother Judah, who is now 15 months old, weighed a little more than 12 pounds at birth.

And when he came out we all thought he was smaller [than Judah] and then we put him on the scale, we were very surprised, but he's three inches longer, Kendall tells WHO-TV.

Mercy officials told The AP that only a tenth of 1 percent of all newborns weigh more than 11 pounds at birth.

Pop2It reported that National Council of Health Statistics show that only one in 1,000 babies weigh more than 11 pounds at birth.
