Punxsutawney Phil, the most famous and most reliable groundhog, emerged from his tree stump today and saw his shadow -- warning a crowd of around 18,000 that we have six more weeks of winter ahead of us. But did other groundhogs see their shadows?
Phil isn't the only weather-prognosticating groundhog. As reported in a previous article, Staten Island Chuck of Richmond County, N.Y. (famous for biting the finger of Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2009), did not see his shadow this morning, informing the crowd that we'll have an early spring.
A tweet from Manchester, Conn., Patch also informed the world of an early spring, this time from Chuckles the Connecticut groundhog. Woody the Woodchuck from Michigan agreed with the Connecticut creature
Meanwhile,, north of the border, the National Post is reporting that Canada's Schubenacadie Sam of Nova Scotia and Wiarton Willie of Ontario are on the same side of the tree stump with Staten Island Chuck. Sam and Willie both agree that spring is coming soon for Canada.
Punxsutawney Phil seems to only have one other furry creature on his side that saw a shadow, Chattanooga Chuck from the Tennessee Aquarium.

More groundhogs seem to be heading in the direction of spring, but according to groundhog.org, Punxsutawney Phil has the track record. Last year Phil was accurate when he predicted an early spring. We'll know for sure which groundhog we can trust in six weeks.
