Priyanka Gandhi Says Corruption is the Biggest Enemy in Uttar Pradesh

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Friday said that corruption and opportunistic politics are the biggest enemies of the people of Uttar Pradesh (UP).

"Corruption, anarchy and opportunistic politics are the biggest enemies of people. People should wake up and change all that," Gandhi said while campaigning in Amethi region of poll-bound of Uttra Pradesh, to help her brother and Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi who is going all out to get a party foothold in the heartland state after almost two decades.

People of Uttar Pradesh have their own experience of a particular type of politics and government in the past 22 years and they have more wisdom than you and me, she told reporters. 

She said that she has been given the responsibility to look after five constituencies in Rai Bareilly and five in Amethi.

She urged the people of Uttar Pradesh to vote for change.

"What is a leader? He is just your servant. He should be among you and you should be here (on the stage," she told one gathering of people. 

"I have been asked to look after five constituencies in Rai Bareilly and five in Amethi," she informed. 

This is the second visit of Gandhi in the past few weeks in the politically charged north Indian state.

UP is going to witness a highly charged assembly poll with Congress going all out to regain its lost ground in the heartland state as party leader Rahul Gandhi devoting full time for the elections by challenging Mayawati while other important players are Mulayam Singh Yadav's Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). 

UP is going to polls on Feb 8, Feb 11, Feb 15, Feb 19, Feb 23, Feb 28 and March 3.

Counting of votes is on March 6 along with all four other states that are going to elections.
