Liquipel, a California-based company, boasts of a nano-coating system for mobile device. It covers both the inside and outside of the phones to make it water-repellent. Hence, the phone will be less susceptible to liquid or moisture-related damage, according to Today's iPhone, which has cited one of the United Kingdom's top independent phone retailers.
The company said the waterproof shield is a vaporized liquid, which is one thousand times thinner than a human hair, but it's very effective in protecting the iPhone from water damage.

How does Liquipel manage the coating process? The company's sales agent Sarah Chitrars said in a video demonstration, "What we're able to do is place your electronic device inside our especially engineered Liquipel machine."
"In that machine we have a chamber that pumps down and ignites our plasma process to permeate your device on a molecular level, so the internal and external components," she continued. "At the end of that process, which takes about 30-35 minutes, your phone has been Liquipeled."

The company will treat an iPhone 4S within 1-2 days after receiving the device, if you pay them $59.99. However, if you want get the phone within 2 hours, you should pay an extra $10 as emergency fee.
However, Liquipel co-founder Kevin Bacon has clarified in the video demonstration that the water-repellant technology doesn't mean you should intentionally take your phone for a swim. According to him, the technology has been designed for accidental situations, including mishaps involving rain, toilets and sinks, or "if you've got to take a quick call in the shower."
According to the rumor mill, iPhone 5 as well as Samsung Galaxy S III will incorporate the new water-repellant technology.
