A rep for the singer told "E! News" that Rimes had minor oral surgery to correct TMJ, short for temporomandibular joint disorder. She is said to be healing quickly.

According to WebMD, TMD happens as a result of problems with the jaw, jaw joint and surrounding facial muscles that control chewing and moving the jaw. The temporomandibular joint is the hinge joint connecting the mandible or lower jaw to the temporal bone of the skull.

Rimes is reportedly recovering at her Malibu beach home.

After her earlier post about the pain, Rimes tweeted, "The pain is subsiding finally for a moment. My head has been vibrating all day. Maybe the sand under my feet is helping."
