Update: Alyssa Bustamante, 18, was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole on Wednesday.

Alyssa Bustamante, the Missouri teen who admitted to stabbing, strangling and slitting the throat of a her 9-year-old neighbor Elizabeth Olten, penned in her journal the night she killed the young girl that the act was ahmazing and a pretty enjoyable experience. She later went to church, according to reports.

The words from Bustamante's journals were read aloud in court on Monday.

According to The Associated Press and CBS, the reading was part of a sentencing hearing to determine whether Bustamante should get life in prison or serve less time for the October 2009 murder of Olten, which took place in a small town west of Jefferson City.

Bustamante wrote the journal entry when she was 15 years old and a sophomore in high school.

I just f------ killed someone, Bustamante reportedly wrote. I strangled them and slit their throat and stabbed them now they're dead. I don't know how to feel atm. It was ahmazing. As soon as you get over the ohmygawd I can't do this feeling, it's pretty enjoyable. I'm kinda nervous and shaky though right now. Kay, I gotta go to church now...lol.

Bustamante has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action. She now faces life imprisonment at most with a chance for parole. According to CBS and The AP report, Bustamante could get 10 years the least.

The defense has argued that Bustamante had a troubled childhood and that she should get leniency. They mentioned prior journal entries about suicide and the urge to hurt others.

CBS reported that a week before killing Olten, Bustamante wrote that she wasn't able to use her cell phone because the charger died and so she was unable to talk to anyone about her depression and feelings of rage.

If I don't talk about it, I bottle it up, and when I explode someone's going to die, Bustamante wrote in a journal read to the court by her defense attorney, Charlie Moreland.

Olten's mother, Patty Preiss, said her daughter as happy, little girl. The 9 year old had begged her mother to go play with Bustamante's younger sister. She was to return home at 6 p.m., just one hour after asking is she could go play.

FBI agents reportedly seized the journal from Bustamante's bedroom. It was found during a search of her family's home the day after Olten went missing, according to the Huffington Post.
