India vs Sri Lanka: India Restrict Sri Lanka to 233 for 8

The Indian bowlers bowled well to restrict Sri Lanka at 233 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the second One Day International (ODI) match of the Commonwealth Bank Series at the Western Australia Cricket Association (WACA) Ground, here on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first.

Sri Lankan openers failed to give the side a comfortable start as they lost the wicket of U Tharanga (4) at the initial overs of the match. Z Khan picked up the wicket of Tharanga at a point when the scorecard showed 12 runs for the loss of one wicket in 2.4 overs.

T. Dilshan (48) and experienced K Sangakkara (26) played sensibly and added 62 runs in the second wicket partnership before Khan picked up the wicket of Sangakkara.

However, young Dinesh Chandimal played a gutsy innings of 64 runs and helped the side on the tough WACA pitch.

A Mathews (33*) and skipper M Jayawardene  (23) added some crucial runs that helped the side reach a competitive score of 233 runs.

Off-spinner Ashwin was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he picked up three wicket by giving away only 32 runs in his quota of 10 overs.

Khan picked up two crucial wickets in the match. While all-rounder R Jadeja picked up the important wicket of Dilshan.

R Vinay Kumar also bowled in good rhythm and picked up the wicket of Nuwan Kulasekara.

India have rested opener G Gambhir in this match.
