Rare Elizabeth Taylor's Collections in Pictures

Elizabeth Taylor's Bel Air art collection fetched £14million at Christie's auction on Wednesday.

Three paintings, from the Hollywood star's collection, by Van Gogh, Edgar Degas and Claude Pissarro, respectively, fetched £13,787,750 at the Christie's sale, more than double their pre-sale estimate of £6.2million.

The highest-selling piece was Vue de l'Asile et de la Chapelle de Saint-Remy by Van Gogh, which was bought by an anonymous telephone bidder for £10,121,250.

Christie's, which is an international company that offers art auctions and private sales to clients around the globe, has auctioned the film icon's collection of jewellery, accessories, paintings, costumes and decorative arts last year.

The Collection generated intense interest from bidders throughout the world and set a world record for the most valuable sale of jewellery in auction history.
