Green Tech and 3D Highlight CEA Line Show

Green and 3D technology will be among the headline topics at this year's Consumer Electronics Association Line Show, which begins Tuesday in New York City.

The CEA's annual line show brings together popular and upcoming electronics companies who display their latest products, participate in seminars and give press conferences. Some of the companies taking part in this year's show are Google, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, Samsung, Sony, Skype, Toshiba and Vizio.

The conference will begin with a seminar titled, "The Soul of a Green Machine." Moderated by CNET's Martin LaMonica, it will feature panelists such as Inhabitant.com publisher Jill Fehrenbacher, chief executive officer of EnergyHub Seth Frader-Thompson and Green Electronics Council member Sarah O'Brien. The trio will discuss green technology in consumer electronics and the lack of official standards.

Bill Pollock, president of Panamax/Furman, will discuss energy delivery and how it'll impact our electronics in the future. He will also give a demo on Panamax/Furman's energy saving products.

Topping off the conference will be a 3D Summit. This will include multiple seminars on the technology including everything from 3D glasses to converting 2D to 3D. It will end with a 3D panel, which will include John Batter, co-president of DreamWorks Animation, Terry Denson, vice-president of programming and marketing at Verizon FIOS TV, Samsung Senior Marketing Manager Dan Schinasi and Alec Shapiro, head of 3D broadcast production at Sony.

Sony will also showcase the World Cup on its new 3D TV lineup.

Keynoting the CEA Line Show will be Jared Cohen, secretary of state policy and planning staff member at the US State Department. Cohen will discuss the free and open internet under Secretary of State Hilary Clinton.

This year's show also includes seminars on gadgets, social networking, start-ups, operating system browsers, getting a return on investment, e-readers, the debate between smartphones vs. netbooks and internet television.

Last year, 1,106 attendees came to the CEA Line Show with 52 exhibitors, 55 speakers/panelists and a total of 386 media/analysts in attendance.
