Grammy Red Carpet Photos 2012: Stars Arrive at the Award Show [SLIDESHOW]

Grammy red carpet photos are emerging, and all the hottest stars are arriving at the award show.

Music's sexiest faces and bodies are strutting their stuff at Los Angeles' Staples Center at tonight's Grammy Awards, as they get ready for the biggest award show of the year.

The festivities are broadcast live on CBS in high definition and 5.1 surround sound, from 8 p.m. Eastern/5 p.m. PT to 11:30 p.m. Eastern/8:30 p.m. PT.

Featuring a showdown in the best pop solo performance category between Lady Gaga and Adele, who is nominated for six Grammys, as well as a competition between Foo Fighters and Mastodon for best hard rock/metal performance, the 2012 Grammy Awards should be a fun, emotional night of high drama and great music.

And the night is guaranteed to be entertaining as beloved two-time Grammy Award-winning rapper LL Cool J will be hosting this year.

This is the 54th-annual Grammy Awards, and the stars and their fans have been waiting to find out will take home the golden gramaphone trophies since nominations were announced Nov. 30.

The music line-up at the 2012 Grammy Awards is impressive, featuring a wide range of groups and artists, from Adele's first performance since her vocal cord surgery last fall to the Beach Boys, who are reuniting for their first appearance in 20 years, playing with Foster The People and Maroon 5.

Also performing in the marathon musical event will be: Kelly Clarkson, Jason Aldean, Tony Bennett, Carrie Underwood, Chris Brown, Glen Campbell, the Band Perry, Blake Shelton, The Civil Wars, Coldplay, Rhianna, Deadmau5, Foo Fighters, David Guetta, Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, Bonnie Raitt, Diana Krall, Bruno Mars, Paul McCartney, Nicki Minaj, Maceo Parker, Katy Perry, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Taylor Swift and Joe Walsh.

The Grammy Awards have a long and colorful history. The first Grammy Awards ceremony was created as a way to honor musical artists in a way similar to the ways actors and people in the world of film and TV are feted each year during the Oscar and Emmy award ceremonies. Held on May 4, 1959, it set off a tradition that continues to this day of celebrating the people that bring us music each year.
