New York Fashion Week: Lacoste Looks to Ski Fields [SLIDESHOW]

Snow boots, long sleeves and hats set the ski fields theme for the Lacoste fall/winter 2012 show at New York Fashion Week.

Wedgwood blue, navy, red, grey and neutral tones made up the majority of the colour palette seen throughout the collection.

The French tennis brand has expanded its range to ski wear, making for wintry decor throughout the show; sleigh bell music and a catwalk divided by two walls of falling fake snow set the mood for an Alpine inspired collection.

Ski boot-style leather platform boots, panelled leggings and quilted leather jackets made for sleek and close-fitting looks.

Also among the collection were thigh-skimming mini-skirts, high collars, a long ribbed knit jersey dress and clean white leather pieces.

This was designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista's second catwalk collection for Lacoste which paid attention to magnified tri-coloured tweed prints on jackets, tailored trousers and clothe hats.

"I found these amazing knits in the archives, and there were some photos of René Lacoste and the family in the 30s in tweeds so I remixed that - but I made it all for today," he told the Telegraph backstage after the show.

"They are clothes that you can live in but have a great fit and a great look as well: empowering clothes."
