Morning Platinum Market Report

February 13, 2012 9:02 AM EST

The platinum market has initially outperformed the gold and silver markets during early Monday trading. Platinum might be finding some support from news of lower platinum output from Anglo Platinum. In fact, Anglo Platinum also suggested that their production levels going forward might be reduced due to safety-related work stoppages and periodic power supply issues. Japan released a GDP report that generally showed an ongoing contraction, which may be an early projection of weaker industrial platinum demand from Japanese automakers.
