Adele's performance and awards haul at Grammys 2012 did not disappoint. The singer won all six of the Grammy Awards for which she had been nominated, including Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year.

At the Grammys, she described her winning album “21” as being about something “everyone’s been through…which is a rubbish relationship,” and thanked the doctors who had performed her throat surgery for bringing her voice back.

But along with Adele's triumph, Grammys 2012 was also a place to honor, and to mourn, another pop icon: musical legend Whitney Houston, who died on Saturday of still unknown causes.

"We’ve had a death in our family,” host LL Cool J said. He offered “a prayer for a woman we loved, for a fallen sister.”

Chris Brown, meanwhile, only three years after having to back out of the Grammy Awards following his assault on singer Rihanna, made a triumphant return for Grammys 2012, with his album "F.A.M.E." winning R&B Album of the Year.
