New Week Fashion Week: Alexandra Wang Does Grown-Up Glamour

Fashion Alexander Wang channelled grown-up and polished glamour for his 2012 autumn/winter collection at New York Fashion Week.

The budding American designer showed off slick and sexy ensembles and experimented with juxtaposing hard and soft, naughty and nice.

His collection had a grown-up theme with a twist  in key designs including tweed coats and vinyl-coated boxy jackets, and lacquered stiff chunky hand-knit cardigans and crewnecks.

There was also a mix of materials including slouchy crepe trousers with leather panels on the front of the legs, wool turtlenecks made from fishnet, and hooded puffer vests in black leather.

Runway royalty came in the form of Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen who hit the catwalk with Karolina Kurkova, Carmen Kass and Shalmon Harlow.

The Brazilian bombshell appeared in a military-inspired, black leather jacket with extra-large buttons and a side split.
