Nikki Minaj Performs 'Roman Holiday' at 2012 Grammy Awards, Twitter Reactions [VIDEO]

Nikki Minaj caused quite a stir at the 2012 Grammy Awards last night during her on stage rendition of an exorcism during her song "Roman Holiday."

Before the start of the show, Minaj appeared on the red carpet dressed as what appeared to resemble Little Red Riding Hood with a man dressed as the Pope, much to the confusion of onlookers.

Minaj, who lost the award for Best New Artist to Bon Iver, went up on stage as her alter ego, Roman Zolanski as she sang "Roman Holiday," not be confused with the 1953 Academy Award winning motion picture of the same name.

Minaj, or Zolanski in this case, began her performance in a confessional. A pre-taped video then played entitled the "Exorcism of Roman," advancing the story that Minaj was possessed by the devil. On stage, Minaj then appeared chained to a wall.

During the performance, she underwent at fake exorcism. She danced with monks, levitated on the stage and even spoke in tongues. At one point, her back-up singers sang a haunting, gothic version of "Come All Ye Faithful."

Fans took to Twitter to as they expressed their views on Minaj's performance. The phrase #RomanHoliday began trending on the social media platform.

"I think I'm going to need an exorcism after seeing Nicki Minaj's performance of Roman Holiday at the #Grammys," wrote Twitter user, Estilonyc.

"Roman Holiday? Stupid Hoe? Where's "Beam Me Up Scotty" Nicki? WTF happened to her? Nicki is embarrassing the borough of Queens," said Twitter user Tahrell.

"99.9% of America's Reaction when Nicki Minaj performed "Roman Holiday" at the Grammys http://twitpic.com/8j8wf0," wrote Twitter user KingBeats, as he linked back to a picture that said "Da F----"

"Nicki Minaj's performance just canceled black history month.#Grammys," wrote Twitter user CaptainPajamas.

"i guess no one informed nicki minaj that the #Grammys are all about good music. was that supposed to be shocking? white-hot mess," write Twitter user EstherFreedman
