The Metropolitan Police commander Ali Dizaei has been jailed for three years after he was found guilty of misconduct in a public office and perverting the course of justice after attacking a man in 2008.

Dizaei attacked and falsely arrested Waad al-Baghdadi after Baghdadi asked for £600 he was owed for building a website for the commander, a Southwark crown court heard.
Peter Wright QC, prosecuting, said: "He was pursuing a citizen for his own personal motive."
Wright also claimed that Dizaei inflicted injuries upon himself in order to frame Baghdadi .
The court heard the call that al-Baghdadi made to the emergency services in which he said "No, no, no".

Dizaei's voice could be heard in the background saying: "I am arresting you".
Dizaei also made an emergency call, saying: "I have made an arrest, I need urgent assistance."
Baghdadi told the court that Dizaei was dangerous and he had a "gangster character".
"People are afraid of him... he has two characters. If he talks to you with the gangster character he had, you would be very afraid."
