Tyler Perry is still defending his choice to cast Kim Kardashian in his film, The Marriage Counselor.

Perry was doing promotional work for his upcoming film, Good Deeds, which hits theaters on Feb. 24.

I wrote a role especially for her, Perry said of Kardashian to Access Hollywood. It's a small role that she does a great job with. And I'm excited about it.

He defended his casting choice back in November, and said he wanted to cast someone who had pull with young people.

She literally has millions of young people following her, Perry said in November, according to a report from The Wrap. I thought and still do think, that it would be very responsible of her to be a part of this film.

Kardashian critics cried foul when learning that the reality television star -- who famously split up with husband Kris Humphries after only 72 days of marriage -- was cast in such role.

Perry has stuck to his decision.

I think it was a great experience for her and I think she was definitely supposed to be there, Perry told Access Hollywood.

The Marriage Counselor will hit theaters on July 27. Other big names set to star include Vanessa Williams and Brandy Norwood.
