Celebrity Valentines: Hollywood Couples That Have Stuck Together [PHOTOS]
Celebrity valentines in Hollywood come and go, especially if you're a reality TV star or if your name is George Clooney.
But beyond the glitz and glamour of red carpets and recording studios, some relationships have actually lasted through the years.
Of our brief list of 10 couples, Sting and Trudie Styler have lasted the longest (married since 1992). But that's nothing compared to, say, Martin Sheen and his wife Janet Templeton, who have been married for nearly 51 years. Rock's King and Queen, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, will celebrate 30 years of marriage this year.
In honor of Valentine's Day 2012, here are 10 Hollywood couples that have stuck together (in no particular order).
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner
Ben and Jen were engaged after nine months of dating. The “Daredevil” co-stars are now proud parents to Violet, 7, and Seraphina, 3, with a third on the way.
“We both know we couldn’t do what we do without each other . . . Ben always says, ‘If you love it, we can make it happen,’” Garner told In Style in December 2011.
“Honestly, I would do anything for that man, because I know it’s not taken for granted.”
Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves
Remember when Matthew McConaughey did all those romantic comedies (“How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” “Failure to Launch”)? Well, he’s still doing them, but with real romance in his personal life. The hunky 42-year-old has been with Brazilian model Camila Alves since 2007. The parents of Levi, 3, and Vida, 2, had a very special Christmas this past December, thanks to a proposal from McConaughey.
“Just asked camila to marry me . . . Merry Christmas,” McConaughey wrote on his WhoSay page.
Victoria and David Beckham
Time really flies when you’re Victoria and David Beckham. It feels like it was just yesterday when this Spice Girl was dating this footballer from Manchester United. That was 1997.
The power couple have four children: Brooklyn, 12; Romeo, 11; Cruz, 6 and the newest addition, Harper Seven, who was born last summer.
These days, the Beckhams are based in Los Angeles, where David is a member of the Galaxy.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi
Ellen and Portia were one of the first Hollywood couples to marry after the overturn of the same-sex marriage ban in California in 2008. The couple, who have been together since 2004, live in Beverly Hills.
“Ellen took my breath away . . . that had never happened to me in my life, where I saw somebody and experienced all of those things you hear about in songs and read about in poetry. My knees were weak,” de Rossi told The Advocate.
Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford
Valentine’s Day is special to Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford -- it’s the day they got engaged in 2009. After nearly a decade of dating (thanks to an encounter at the Golden Globes), the pair tied the knot in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on June 15, 2010.
Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas
Melanie has never been shy about her love for her husband of nearly 16 years, Antonio Banderas. She has a tattoo of his first name (inside a heart shape) on her right shoulder.
“What I love about my family is how quickly and beautifully we became a family . . . when I married Melanie, she had two kids and soon enough, we had Stella,” Banderas recently told Good Housekeeping.
The two are parents to Griffith’s children from her previous relationships, Alexander and Dakota, and their daughter, Stella Banderas.
Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick
“We’ve been together for 20 years and you have good days, you have decent days, and you have bad days. That’s a marriage. That’s a relationship,” SJP told Us Weekly in December.
“If you’re in it for the long haul and you want meaningful relationships, you are going to go through lots of different periods,” she added.
SJP and Matthew Broderick are parents to James, 11, and twin daughters Marion and Tabitha, 2.
Sting and Trudie Styler
Sting and his wife of nearly 20 years have been music’s most powerful couple, right up there with Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
Sting and Trudie have four children.
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones
Michael Douglas and longtime love Catherine Zeta-Jones have been married since 2000. And they’ve had their fair share of the Hollywood spotlight, both public and private (a stalker in 2004, Douglas’ throat cancer in 2010 and Zeta-Jones’ treatment for bipolar II disorder last year).
They have two children, Dylan Michael, 11, and Carys Zeta, 8.
Elton John and David Furnish
After more than a decade of dating, Elton and David entered a civil partnership in 2005. Their son, 1-year-old Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, has a godmother who is just as famous as his fathers: Lady Gaga.
