Cindy Crawford has decided to put the brakes on daughter Kaia's modeling career for a few years. The supermodel mom does not want her 10-year-old daughter to continue working in the fashion biz. She must wait until she is at least 17-years-old.

In an interview with Daily Front Row, Cindy Crawford discussed daughter Kaia's modeling with Versace and stated that she will keep the flashbulbs away until her daughter is at least 17-years-old.

At this point, she's too young to pursue a career. There aren't even a handful of jobs for a 10-year-old girl. But if she's 17 and wants to try it...of course, what can I say? said Crawford, who was discovered at 16-years-old.

She's really into singing and acting. She kind of jokingly said--I'm not even sure if it was jokingly--'I might model first because you don't have to know how to do anything, but then I want to be a baby nurse.'?

Kaia was chosen as the new face of Versace's 12-and-under collection, Young Versace. Her ad campaign photos came out in mid-January. At the time, Crawford said, I'm so thrilled that Kaia was chosen to be part of the first Young Versace Campaign. I have so many fond memories of the times I spent with Gianni and Donatella. There is something so very special about the House of Versace.

But, while talking with Daily Front Row, Crawford back-tracked a bit.

Kaia isn't modeling, per se--she doesn't have a portfolio or an agent, she said. I think Donatella thought it would be fun because I had worked with Versace so much in the eighties and nineties. She shot with Mert and Marcus, and I thought if she's ever going to do anything, that's about as good as it gets. So she did one picture and it ended up going everywhere! I didn't quite understand how much media play it would get. They were very smart to choose her.

Crawford was on-set when the ad campaign was shot. The supermodel said that she tried to stay back and let her daughter be.

Donatella kept saying, 'Come! Stand here by me and we'll watch on the monitor!' But I didn't want to be a stage mom and make her nervous. She knew I was there looking out for her. She's done little modeling things with me, but it was always with me, and this was just her. And I really wanted her to have that experience.

At the time the photos were released, many questioned if the ad was tasteful or just too sexy for a 10-year-old. Ashley Cardiff of TheGloss said, This images [sic] makes us uncomfortable.

Wholesome smile aside, this isn't really different from a regular, garden variety Versace campaign. If you swapped out those flat sandals-leave the socks for fetishistic purposes, obviously--and replaced them with towering platforms, you'd get every Versace campaign ever...if not a little more exposed thigh. Except this time the model is ten, instead of the brand's usual 16 going on 27 sexually available, Cardiff wrote.
