Royal Melbourne, with its famed sand-belt East and West Courses, has reclaimed its first place on the latest list of Australia's best golf courses.

The storied Victoria club, which late last year hosted the 2011 Presidents Cup and this month staged the season-opening LPGA Tour event, the Australian Ladies Masters, on it's West Course, has been a long-time leader among Australian golf courses.

It's East Course had topped every one of the respected Australian Golf Digest's biennial lists of the country's top 100 courses until 2010, when, for the first time, first place went to Kingston Heath, which hosted the 2009 Australian Masters won by Tiger Woods.

But now Royal Melbourne has regained its coveted No 1 spot on the 2012 list of best Australian courses, this time with it's West Course claiming the honours.
