The latest Kim Kardashian rumor is that she wants to date Knicks star Jeremy Lin, but it's doubtful there is any truth to it, if past history is any indicator.

MediaTakeOut reported earlier this week that Kardashian had set up a date with Lin because "she thinks Jeremy is cute and she's good friends with (Carmelo Anthony's wife) Lala." Another source denied the alleged date to The Huffington Post, but it fits right into Kardashian's modus operandi.

Kardashian, who is best-known for her roles in a sex tape and awful reality show, attempts to attach her dwindling fame to any famous athlete she can get her hands on. She dated Reggie Bush for some time; she married Nets player Kris Humphries; and has lately taken to going after whoever is hot at the moment.

That has included the aforementioned Lin and Denver Broncos star quarterback Tim Tebow. The National Enquirer reported in January that Kardashian had "a big crush on Tim" and that she was trying to attach herself to the popular quarterback because she "needs to rehab her image to her get career revved up again."

Tebow never publicly commented on Kardashian's crush on him, but a source close to him told The Enquirer that he is "saving himself for marriage and is looking for a woman with similar values, not someone with two failed marriages and a sex tape in her past."

It is doubtful Lin -- another devout Christian -- has any interest in dating the low-morale reality television star, but that won't stop Kardashian from trying her best to have the two mentioned together.

Kardashian attempting to keep herself in the public light with all the rumored flings is smart to an extent, but also extremely desperate. It's clear that Kardashian is talentless, but one would hope that she would find more creative ways to stay relevant than whoring her name in the hopes of staying in gossip magazines and Web sites.

There's only so long that a person can be rumored to be dating every athlete under the sun before eventually everyone stops caring. It's a shock that this day hasn't already come, but be certain it is just around the corner.

Perhaps Kardashian will be able to seduce some unknowing professional athlete into a real relationship, but it's clear that the Kardashian name is becoming more toxic by the day. Her relatively sane sister Khloe has succeeded in her marriage with Dallas Mavericks star Lamar Odom to an extent, but Kim's experience with Humphries shows that she is years away from a healthy, steady marriage.

Humphries got a lot of flak for telling Kardashian that "no one will probably care about you" once they started having kids, but he was completely right. The window of success for a talentless person in Hollywood is awfully small, especially when you are as unlikable as Kardashian and the rest of her family.

Ratings on her television show have precipitously dropped and it will only get worse. Before you know it Kardashian will be off our television screens and limited to starting stupid dating rumors -- she even recently was rumored to be dating Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.

She deserves credit for keeping herself relevant for as long as she has, but this rumored to be dating game is a short-term strategy that is on its last legs.

Sure she can attempt to say she and Tiger Woods are dating, but similar to a tree falling in an empty forest --- will anyone notice. Or even care?
