Happy Birthday John Travolta: Actor Celebrates 58th Birthday [Hold]
American actor John Travolta celebrated his 58th birthday on Saturday.
The actor gained popularity as a Brooklyn high school student on the television sitcom "Welcome Back, Kotter" (1975-79). His popularity soared on the big screen with his first blockbuster movie "Saturday Night Fever" (1977). He was nominated for the Best Actor award at the Oscars.
Since then, Travolta has acted in numerous movies performing varied roles from a disco dancer in "Saturday Night Fever," to a lover boy in American musical film "Grease" and from a mob hitman in Quentin Tarrentino's movie "Pulp Fiction" to a mafioso-turned-movie producer in "Get Shorty".
He has won several awards including the Golden Globe Best Actor award for his role in "Get Shorty" and a Lifetime Achievement award at the Chicago Film Festival in 1998. He most recently starred in "Old Dogs" along with Robin Williams, his wife Kelly Preston and his daughter Ellas Bleu Travolta.
John has received two prestigious awards, one the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Foundation Award in 2003, and the other The Living Legends Ambassador of Aviation Award in 2007.
He will star in a new movie "Killing Season" along with Robert De Niro.
