Daniel von Bargen Attempts Suicide: Hear Seinfeld's Mr. Kruger Tell 911 'I Just Shot Myself'

Daniel von Bargen attempted suicide Monday and we have the details of the "Seinfeld" actor's 911 call, in which he tells the operator "I just shot myself."

Mr. von Bargen, who is most famous for playing Mr. Kruger on the hit TV show "Seinfeld" and Chief Grady in the 2001 comedy "Super Troopers," shot himself in the head on Monday morning, according to a 911 call recording obtained by TMZ.com.

Daniel von Bargen, 61, did shoot himself once in the head with a .38 Colt revolver in his apartment in Montgomery, Ohio, hoping to kill himself to avoid a life-changing surgery he was scheduled to go to, but he did not die from the wounds and managed to call 911 and make it to an Cincinnati hospital in time to be saved from death, TMZ reported.

"I've shot myself in the head and, uh, I need help," he tells the 911 operator, adding later, "I can't open my eyes...I shot in my temple."

When the 911 operator asked why he tried to attempted suicide, according to the video he responded as follows:

"I was supposed to go to the hospital and I didn't want to, so I just shot myself," he explained, adding that he is a diabetic "and not a good one" and "That they were going to amputate at least a few toes [at the hospital.]"

He went on to further describe his situation in excrutiating detail, and the 911 operator replied by saying, "we're going to get you some help, Daniel," as he made painful groaning noises and waited for help to arrive at his home.

"Police department coming through. Do not move your hands," can be heard on von Bargen's end of the line, as police enter his apartment door, and then the phone clicks off.

Neither von Bargen's sister Donna or the Cincinnati hospital where TMZ reports he is in critical condition, Bethesda North Hospital, responded immediately to phone calls requesting comment on von Bargen's condition Wednesday afternoon.

Daniel von Bargen also played Commandant Edwin Spangler on the TV show "Malcolm in the Middle," and had many film credits including "O Brother, Where Art Thou?", "The Postman" and "Basic Instinct".
