Milan Fashion Week: The Best and Worst Of Day One [SLIDESHOW]
It has only just begun, but Milan Fashion Week is already giving glimpses of what are expected to be the hottest looks this autumn/winter.
Gucci kicked off the event by unveiling a women's collection that proved dark glamour can be broody as well as elegant.
The collection, created by Frida Giannini, the fashion house's designer-in-chief, featured morbidly heavy makeup, moody models wearing ripe-red lipstick and lots of velvet designs. Contrast was offered in the form of large print and jacquard florals.
Other designers, including Alberta Ferretti and John Richard, also appeared to adopt the gothic theme in their own collections.
While some of the designs on offer were inspiring, others fell short of the mark.
