T.J. Lane has been identified as the gunman who opened fire in Chardon High School in Ohio on Monday, according to ABC News and CNN.

The teenager, who has been described as an outcast, killed one student and wounded four as he shot down at the high school cafeteria.

One student who witnessed the attack said the shooter seemed to be targeting one table in the cafeteria. I looked up and this kid was pointing a gun about 10 feet away from me to a group of four kids sitting at a table, Danny Komertz, a 15-year-old student, told the Middletown Journal.

I just can't believe it. I don't think it's real, Komertz told CNN. And I just, it kills me that I saw someone hiding, and now that someone is now dead.

A teacher -- identified by students as Frank Hall -- helped chase the gunman out of the school. Police say they arrested the suspect a short time later in the township of Chardon.

Before Lane was confirmed as the shooter, Evan Erasmus identified the gunman as Lane, saying that he had been friends with the people he had shot before they drifted apart.

He just came from a really broken-down home and he was living with his grandparents, Erasmus told CNN, saying he was quiet but could be really nice if someone reached out to him.

One of Lane's friends, Haley Kovacik, was shocked when he was identified as the shooter. She described him as a very normal teenage boy.

He did have a sad look in his eyes a lot of the time, but he talked normally, he never said anything strange, Kovacik told CNN. It was a really big shock.

Lane's Facebook Page Held Clues

In December Lane launched a poetic rant on his Facebook page that opened a window into his lonely and secluded life. In a quaint lonely town, (where there) sits a man with a frown (who) longed for only one thing, the world to bow at his feet, he wrote

Feel death, not just mocking you. Not just stalking you but inside of you, he writes. Wriggle and writhe. Feel smaller beneath my might. Seizure in the Pestilence that is my scythe. Die, all of you.

The teenager identified by MetroHealth Hospital as Daniel Parmertor died from the wounds of the shooting. His family released the following statement through the hospital:

We are shocked by this senseless tragedy. Danny was a bright young boy who had a bright future ahead of him. The family is torn by this loss. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.

The other two children held in the hospital are in critical condition, according to the MetroHealth Hospital.
