"Interesting to see-read a lot of the media is comparing the Oscars to our Indian awards. Most seem to think that we need to improve, raise our standards... Wait a minute... Aren't most of OUR awards run and held by media houses?" tweeted Bollywood's leading actor, Abhishek Bachchan.

Bachchan seemed furious when asked by Indian media if the country's award shows needed to improve their standards to match the Academy Awards. He pointed out that the Indian awards like Stardust, Filmfare and Screen are, in fact, all hosted by the media houses themselves. He gave the Filmfare and Screen awards as examples; the former is run by The Times Group, while the Indian Express is behind the latter.

"Take the initiative, we shall follow," the actor tweeted further.

The Academy Awards were conducted on 26 February in Los Angeles, USA.

Meanwhile, the actor and his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who have recently become parents for the first time, have apparently decided on a name for their daughter and are expected to announce it soon.
