Is Lindsay Lohan ready to make a comeback?

Matt Lauer and the Today Show crew aired Lohan's one-on-one interview on Thursday, and it looks like the 25-year-old star is eying, of all things, the Oscars, in her future.

When asked where she saw herself in five years, Lohan named dropped the most famous golden statue in the movie business.

Hopefully I'll just have come from the Oscars this past weekend . . . I just want to kind of work, I want to be able to work to the point where I can just go on a vacation with my family, and then have the premieres and be happy for that. I love that feeling. Being able to share what I do with people who go see the film. I want that, she said.

For some ten minutes, the star appears to be composed, friendly and open to Lauer's questions, which include her experiences at the morgue, her current posse and of course, her much-anticipated Saturday Night Live gig this Saturday.

Lohan's Today Show appearance comes nearly six years after the then 19-year-old visited Lauer to promote her film, Mean Girls.

I've been very quiet since then, haven't I? Very quiet . . . kept to myself, Lohan joked with Lauer this week.

On growing up: I think it's just the process of learning and going through certain experiences and I've certainly seen a lot, and I've grown. I've learned how to live my life in a way that I'm happy and can do the things that I want to do.

On the changes she's made: Some of the main things are just the people I surround myself with. I think that it gets very lonely in this industry because you're constantly with people and then you're alone. I just allowed a lot of people to be around me at all times. And I don't think that they were necessarily there for the right reasons and I wasn't concerned with that. I think I was being a bit ignorant towards the fact that maybe I should not go out all the time, maybe I should rest, maybe I should, you know, start to grow up and take care of myself.

On who she trusts these days: I trust my family. My mom. My sister and my brothers. I have a really great group of people that I work with now. And I think that's also been taken a while to get together.

On SNL being her possible comeback: I'd rather [the comeback] be now and not go through with it later. I regret the choices that I've made but I'm grateful for where I am today because of them. I don't need to see more negative stuff. I don't need to put myself in those places anymore . . . I still need to go through the process of proving myself. With SNL -- being on time, keeping my stuff together. I'm really lucky because Lorne Michaels has really been supportive of me.

On SNL and keeping it legal: I think if I'm going to do a sketch about X or Y, this is the place to do it. I spoke to my attorney and asked her; I didn't want to be disrespectful to my judge or anything, and she's been wonderful to me and helped me a lot. So I've asked if certain things would be inappropriate or off limits because I wanted to be in the clear. I'm so close. Some of the things were acceptable, so we'll see if we can get them together. I want to poke fun at myself.

On playing Elizabeth Taylor: It starts when she's in Cleopatra . . . we're in the middle of casting and we start production soon. I've been doing tons of research, but I've always kind of researched her. She's always been a fascinating woman to me. So I'm really honored. And I will not let anyone down -- especially me.

On her love life: I don't want that. Not right now. I want to focus on me and I want to focus on work.
