Nokia teams up with "Heroes" maker Tim Kring to launch a new gaming experience that allows users to become part of an online game, using alternate reality gaming (ARG) tools and real-life tasks to drive social change.

Nokia launched "Conspiracy for Good", a website that uses Nokia's Ovi platform to deliver virtual experience through interactive theatre, online videos and mobile apps all part of a plot designed by Tim Kring. Basically users become part of the plot development and using the online tools can drive the narrative further into the real world, ultimately effecting social and educational change for the Chataika Basic School, located in the village of Chataika in eastern Zambia

"I believe that storytelling has the power to create positive change in the world. Audiences today want to be more involved in stories," said Kring on Nokia website. "Our goal with the Conspiracy for Good is to entice, engage, and inspire the audience to drive real-world change through their participation in a narrative."

The plot is to bring down Blackwell Briggs a fictional multinational infrastructure development company that is posing problems for Conspiracy for Good which has been doing good work in troubled areas.

Once the users come onboard the story, they can coordinate with like-minded thinkers, artists and musicians to generate new ideas that can lead to social change. Essentially, the game helps create a community for common causes. They can also physically participate in events that will take place in London from mid-July to August.

Nokia's Ovi participation occurs through a series of new applications and small games that the users can download from the Ovi store which will contain clues to further drive the narrative.

"Tim Kring has truly realized the potential for Nokia's Ovi platform" said Tero Ojanperä, executive vice president, Nokia. "Conspiracy For Good is Nokia's most powerful example to date for how content owners can blur the lines between the online and real-world to connect people to change."
