Scarlett Johansson is taking on the role of Janet Leigh in Sacha Gervasi's Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho.

Johansson joins Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren, who have been cast as Hitchcock and his wife.

The film goes through Hitchcock's struggles to film the 1960's horror film Psycho and is based on the book of the same name by Stephen Rebello.

Scarlett Johansson's character won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Marion Crane in Psycho. Leigh and Psycho are best known for the iconic shower scene in which she is butchered.

Director Gervasi, whose last film was Anvil! The Story of Anvil, has reportedly been working on the new film since 2007, but Hopkins wasn't brought in until just over a year ago.

Variety reported that British actor D'Arcy will play Anthony Perkins, who was Norman Bates in the original horror film.

The film is estimated to be released in 2013.
