With four days to go before the Season 5 premiere of Mad Men, AMC has released three new stills from the season's first two episodes.

Standing between Stan (Jay R. Ferguson) and Ken (Aaron Staton), Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss) holds her ground, as the trio appears to be caught in an intense confrontation with Pete (Vincent Kartheiser).

Pete is also featured in another still with wife Trudy (Alison Brie), as the two happily display their pearly whites at a party of some sort. Trudy's attire -- a pink floral number with feathery details -- is one indication that the new season hasn't jumped ahead into time. It's 1966, and the characters are ready to party.

Early reviews of the two-hour premiere, which airs Sunday at 9 p.m. on AMC, have been fairly respectful of the show, as most publications have held back details of the new season.

If [the premiere] ended after the first four minutes, it would still put the show in contention to win its fifth straight Emmy as the best drama on television. Beyond that, we can't tell you much, writes the New York Daily News.

Even if creator Matthew Weiner hadn't threatened to unleash the hounds of AMC hell on anyone who divulges virtually anything about the long-awaited fifth season of 'Mad Men,' I wouldn't want to spoil a minute of Sunday's two-hour premiere. It is, of course, just that good, writes SF Gate.

Sunday's long-awaited return of Mad Men comes, of course, almost one year after Matthew Weiner ended a contract battle with AMC and Lionsgate.

Artistic people should not be put through that. I don't have the temperament or the stomach for business at the level, especially when it was so personal. But I got over it because I got to go back to work, Weiner told the Huffington Post this week.

And what work Weiner and company have produced.

The two-hour premiere of Mad Men Season 5 airs on AMC on Sunday at 9 p.m. EST.
