The Mega Millions jackpot reaching $500 million has made many people run out to their local convenience store to buy a few lottery tickets, but Washington Wizards rookie Chris Singleton is planning on dropping $10,000 on a chance to win the big payday.

Singleton tweeted on Thursday that he was planning to drop the substantial amount of money for his chance to win half a billion dollars.

When told by a follower that Singleton, who was drafted in the first round in last year's NBA draft, was already rich, he responded that If I get richer, I will change the world for the better.

The former Florida State star went on to say that it was an investment and that whatever happens I'm dedicated to making more money.

Unfortunately for Singleton, the odds aren't in his favor. The odds of winning the huge jackpot are one in 176 million, according to lottery officials. He also doesn't significantly better his odds by purchasing $10,000 worth of tickets, but that doesn't seem to be much of a deterrent to him.

He isn't alone in dropping some serious change to win Mega Millions. MTV star Rob Dyrdek dropped $700 on tickets when the jackpot was at $356 million. It's unclear whether he will spend more on the latest drawing set to happen on Friday at 11 p.m. EST.

Chris Singleton plans to spend $10,000 on Mega Millions tickets.
