Stephen Hawking's highly anticipated guest appearance on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory aired last night, and we can say the noted physicist and professor has a knack for comedy based on his interaction with character Sheldon Cooper.

The video of Hawking's appearance can be seen below.

In the clip, Sheldon, played by Jim Parsons, is awestruck by the chance of meeting Hawking, who plays himself in the guest appearance.

Hawking, who suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease), types to communicate using a voice synthesizer.

Sheldon hands Hawking his thesis paper and Hawking notices an error, causing Sheldon so much embarrassment that he faints.

You made an arithmetic mistake on page two, Hawking tells Sheldon. It was quite a boner.

Sheldon said he doesn't make arithmetic mistakes.

Are you saying I do? Hawking responded.

Sheldon looks through his thesis again, realizes he did make an error, and faints.

Great -- another fainter, Hawking said.

Big Bang Theory, which airs on CBS, follows four nerdy friends -- Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstader, Howard Wolowitz, Rajesh Koothrapali -- as they live life in Los Angeles. Science, technology and awkward social situations are the basis for much of the show's comedic moments.
