Chicago Craigslist
Forget about looking for a new apartment. One Chicago woman is looking for her baby daddy. Craigslist

Earlier this week news spread of a 28-year-old Chicago woman who took out an ad on Craigslist to find her baby daddy. The twist? She had sex with the mystery man in the bathroom of Chicago's Aragon Ballroom during a Megadeth/ Motorhead concert in March. After having the Craigslist ad deleted, the woman finally came forward to Fuse to announce some big news. It was all a hoax.

Did we hook up at the Megadeth concert? the anonymous woman had posted in the Missed Connections section on April 9. Me: blue hair, silver tube top, fishnets, knee high black biker boots. You: red mohawk, black pentagram gauges, viper piercings...Anyway I'm pregnant. It's yours. Contact me if you want to be part of your child's life.

The post got very graphic as the woman described her intimate encounter with the red mohawked gentleman in the bathroom stall. Turns out the red mohawk man with the black pentagram gauges and viper piercings, along with the rendezvous in the bathroom stall was all a lie. The woman posting the ad on Craigslist didn't even go to the Megadeth/ Motorhead show.

David Shapiro, a reporter for Fuse managed to get in touch with the mystery lady, and the information he received was quite shocking. The woman, who wanted to be referred to as Crash to protect her identity, told Fuse that that the whole thing was a joke. I'm really, really sorry. I didn't mean to trick you, she told Shapiro in her first phone conversation with him.

In the second conversation with Crash, Shapiro found out that the woman was actually 23-years-old and from Kansas, not Chicago.

It started from not sleeping very much and starting a new medication that kept me awake, explained Crash. I was just so bored being awake all day and all night, and I was surfing the Internet non-stop. I read some Craigslist Missed Connections post s and I found them funny, so I decided to put on up to, ummm....make this boy laugh.

Crash told Fuse that the ad was only meant to be an inside joke between friends. The Kansas woman revealed that she was not even at the concert. I was just trying to find something that looked like it had happened long enough ago that someone could by now know that they were pregnant from it. As for specifically choosing the Megadeth/ Motorhead show she said that I'm pretty sure there were people banging at that concert.

Crash's thoughts were right on target, because the woman continued that she received plenty of emails from concert goers who thought that they had impregnated me.

As for the Craigslist ad turning into a national media hit, Crash said that I just hope people know I wasn't trying to mess with anyone, it was supposed to be a silly thing that was never supposed to get big.

Here are 3 more Craigslist hoaxes.

Dan Gorgeous Guy Baca

Imagine crowds of people gathering to look at you. In 2001, Dan Baca, 29, had been the man crowds were gathering around. The reason for why the people had gathered? He was an internet celebrity.

According to the Museum of Hoaxes, Baca's picture had been posted on San Francisco's Missed Connections section on Craigslist in May 2001. Along with his picture was a caption that read Gorgeous Guy @ 4th and Market at the MUNI/Amtrak Bus Stop (Mon-Fri). The female who reportedly posted the picture on Craigslist wanted to meet Baca, and was hoping the message would catch his attention.

The ad received a lot of attention with people actually travelling to the bus stop to see the Gorgeous Guy in person. Baca also got the attention of a freelance journalist, David Cassel. Cassel discovered that the a majority of the follow up messages to the initial posting came from a shared IP address, reports Museum of Hoaxes. The IP address ended up tracing back to the Gorgeous Guy himself, Dan Baca.

Robert Salisbury's Oregon Ransacking

In 2008 two ads on Craigslist cost Oregon man Robert Salisbury almost everything he owned...including his horse. The ad was posted stating that the owner of a Jacksonville home was forced to leave the area suddenly and his belongings, including a horse, were free for the taking, Jackson County sheriff's detective Sgt. Colin Fagan told Fox News.

Salisbury received a call from a woman about taking his horse, when he finally returned to his house he discovered people leaving with their cars loaded with his items.

I informed them I was the owner, but they refused to give the stuff back, Salisbury said at the time. They showed me the Craigslist printout and told me they had the right to do what they did.

The Craigslist ad ended up being posted by Brandon and Amber Herbert, who had been trying to cover up their prior theft of Salisbury's belongings.

Adventurous Florida Couple

One newly married Florida woman, Natasha Larson wasn't too pleased with her new husband's ex-wife. The ex-wife, Tracy Wilder, began receiving phone calls and text messages from men replying to a Craigslist ad, reported the Smoking Gun.

Turns out that Natasha had placed a Craigslist ad entitled Adventurous Couple. The ad said the woman was looking for men to stop by her home to be thrown around a little bit and to be dominated. The ad further went on to say I also like to take charge sometimes but I need a strong man to keep me in check. My boyfriend Matt lives with me but he is open to my need to explore.

Police discovered that the IP address traced back to Wilder's ex-husband Donald. Donald's new wife Natasha admitted to posting the phony ad, giving out Wilder's cell phone number to unknown men, as well as invite these unknown men to Wilder's house.
