How much is a pair of Queen Elizabeth II's old panties worth? You may never have asked that question before, but now we have an answer after the knickers were sold earlier today on eBay: $18,101.

The museum quality knickers, which were described as being in good condition with a few stains and yellowing due to its age, sold for $18,101 in an eBay auction that ended around midnight EST.

The panties, once worn by the queen, are in possession of the estate of Baron Joseph de Bicske Dobronyi of Hungary, whose friend piloted a plane used by the Queen Elizabeth during her majesty's first trip to Chile in 1968, according to the eBay posting.

The belief that they are indeed Royal is based on personal conversations with Mr. Dobronyi prior to his death, its physical characteristics, and the writing on the yellow manila envelope where they were stored for many years, the posting says.

This item has been in Baron Joseph 'Sepy' de Bicske Dobrony's [sic] collection for many years, and would make a wonderful addition for the avid collector of Royal Memorabilia or vintage clothing, the estate writes in the description of the item.

The eBay listing hyped up the old undergarment as a way to celebrate the queen's Golden Jubilee and a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire and own a piece of collectable royal memorabilia.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's ascension to the throne.

The knickers, which Dobronyi's estate could not be authenticated by Buckingham Palace or the garment maker as being a pair of Queen Elizabeth's, had 18 bids on eBay, with the winning bid costing the owner $18,101.

On the bright side, the winning bidder gets free shipping on the deal.

Dobronyi, an aristocrat, sculptor, photographer, royal jewelry designer and art collector who died in 2010 of liver cancer, was quite the ladies' man, having been romantically linked to actresses Ava Gardner and Brigitte Bardot in his heyday.
