Scout Willis, the 20-year-old daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, was reportedly arrested in New York on Monday for using a fake ID and drinking beer in a subway station.

The Brown University student was released without bail on Tuesday, but was ordered to return to Manhattan Criminal Court on July 31, Access Hollywood reported.

Willis was spotted by police officers around 7 p.m. Monday holding an 8-ounce Pakistani beer, according to court papers reviewed by the Daily News. When the transit cop asked her for identification, she reportedly handed over an ID with the name Katherine Kelly on it. But the officer was not fooled.

My name is Scout Willis, she told the officer, according to the criminal complaint reported by the New York Daily News. The first ID isn't mine. My friend gave it to me. I don't know Katherine Kelly.

The aspiring singer was charged with two misdemeanors: breaking the open container law and criminal impersonation.

Willis' lawyer, Stacey Richman, said that she did not know what her client was drinking on Monday but she denied that Willis intentionally misled police.

She was honest about who she was. She is a very proper, very impressive, smart young woman, Richman said. She presented her own ID. ... She did not know who the other person on the other ID is.

Willis left the court room with a desk appearance ticket and returned to her East Village apartment with an unknown male friend.

I'd rather not talk, she told reporters. That's really invasive.

Earlier this year, Willis came to notice in another incident. She was apparently sending out messages from a Twitter account that described how she hated her parents and capitalism and described her college debauchery that included tweets about sex, drugs, cigarettes and partying, reported People magazine.

A blog called IvyGate.com picked up on the Twitter account.

Scout has shared some insanely graphic accounts of her personal life, claimed the blog, reported People, citing some of Willis' posts. Why worry about school? Just take an adderall, make lists, smoke too many cigarettes and voila, panic attacks and straight A's here I come.

A representative speaking on behalf of Willis acknowledged that she did tweet from the account, but as part of a hoax for a class assignment.

In connection with a class assignment, in which students were asked to create a 'culture jam' or 'hoax,' three students created a satirical and fabricated Twitter account in which everything tweeted was fictional, her representative said, reported People. This was done to illustrate how social media is utilized and that in today's social media culture, you can create a significant twitter following based entirely on fabricated lies, and that the more outrageous and controversial the fabricated statement, the more followers you will get.

Current media interest in the fabricated Twitter school assignment appears to prove that point.
