Ever since Tekken debuted in arcades in 1994, is has been deemed as a classic of the fighting genre. Recently, the Tekken team has joined forces with those of Street Fighter in a mash-up of traditional fighting game goriness. However, for Tekken Tag Tournament 2, fans are in store for an unexpected collaboration with a different type of pop-culture icon from the 1990s.

Hip-hop star Snoop Dogg will be creating original content for Tekken Tag Tournament 2, according to Namco Bandai. The rapper will be writing a song just for the game, titled Knocc 'Em Down, and will also make a special guest appearance as a non-playable character in the Snoop Dogg Stage. This stage is exclusive to those who preorder the game, in addition to another previously announced DLC add-on that delves into the extensive roster in Tekken history. This includes four extra fighters such as Michelle Chang and Angel, which are available when ordering from ShopTo, and Ancient Ogre and Kunimitsu through Zavvi.

We are big fans of Snoop Dogg and are proud to welcome him to the 'Tekken' franchise, said Katsuhiro Harada, 'Tekken' project director, in a written statement. The content we created with Snoop Dogg and the song he made for the game allow 'Tekken' fans to experience the legendary hip-hop star in a unique way and blend both Eastern and Western cultures like never before.

Snoop Doggy-Dogg said he has been playing Tekken for a long time, and that players should be ready to take on his heavy-hitting stage.

I've been a fan of 'Tekken' since the 90s so I'm excited to have mad 'Knocc 'Em Down' for the game's soundtrack, he said in the official press release. All you 'Tekken Tag Tournament 2' fans better get ready to experience kickin' a-s on Tha Boss Dogg's stage with my new song 'Knocc 'Em Down' banging in the background. What more could you ask for?

The game will be released on Sept. 14th for European players and Sept. 11th in the United States, as Namco Bandai announced at the end of May. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be available across platforms on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and on the upcoming Wii U as Nintendo announced at its E3 2012 press conference.

The game's got a special stage featuring yours truly sittin' high above and watching the action take place, Snoop Dogg continued.

In addition to appearances from the hip-hop superstar, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 features a new Fight Lab mode, which acts as a practice arena for beginner and advanced players.

Although fans will be seeing some Snoop Dogg-related content, some wonder they won't be able to fight as the rapper himself.

If Snoop Dogg is not a playable character in 'Tekken Tag Tournament 2,' that's a missed opportunity. #E3, tweeted Ryan Penagos, Executive Editorial Director for Marvel Digital Media Group.

Others were just simply confused by the collaboration.
