Daily Caller reporter Neil Munro interrupted President Obama during his speech on the country's immigration policy on June 15. Now the journalist has clarified what was important enough to cut off the Commander in Chief's address.

Munro released the following statement, which originally appeared on the Daily Caller:

I always go to the White House prepared with questions for our president. I timed the question believing the president was closing his remarks, because naturally I have no intention of interrupting the President of the United States. I know he rarely takes questions before walking away from the podium. When I asked the question as he finished his speech, he turned his back on the many reporters, and walked away while I and at least one other reporter asked the questions.

The reporter also answered further questions in a video interview that was published yesterday, saying that his behavior should not have been the focus of the event.

I shouldn't be the story, he said. The important thing is the president's policy today, which could have a significant impact on American workers. I asked a question about that. Admittedly, it was in the middle of his speech.

The president spoke about a new immigration policy that would protect many young immigrants from deportation. The policy says that immigrants between the ages of 16 and 30 who have clean criminal records and are currently enrolled in school; who have received a high school degree; or who have been honorably discharged from the military will not be subject to deportation. This includes immigrants currently facing pending removal cases.

This announcement comes at a time when the record of unemployment among low-skilled workers, Hispanics and African-American is at an all-time high, making the decision a controversial one.

But who is the reporter who felt passionate enough about the issue of immigration to interrupt the President of the United States?

Immigrant Hits Close To Home

According to his Twitter bio, Munro describes himself as Born Irish, then became a Cold War bridegroom. His latest report at the Daily Caller was titled Obama administration tries to downplay impact, muffle public opposition to amnesty move. At the address, which took place in the White House's Rose Garden, the reporter identified himself as an immigrant before walking off, according to numerous reports including the New Civil Rights Movement. Munro writes extensively about immigration, politics and the economy at the Daily Caller.

Before The Daily Caller

Munro began his career in journalism at Defense News, a website dedicated to writing military reports. He then moved to Washington Technology, an online news source for government contractors and partners. While at this publication, Munro wrote about Internet tax bills, overseas government policies, and online capital, among other topics. The reporter worked for Washington Technology until 1998 and then began to write for National Journal, where he stayed for 10 years. This is where Munro's most recent work before moving to the Daily Caller can be found. His last article from the National Journal is from 2010, where he covered topics similar to those published by his previous employers.

So What Is The Daily Caller?

The news organization was launched by Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel in January 2010, according to Mashable. Patel served as chief policy advisor to Vice President Dick Cheney, and Carlson is a journalist who formerly worked for CNN, MSNBC and Fox News Channel. When the website launched, Carlson told the Washington Post that his goal was to explain what your government is doing, not to get Republicans elected. Munro's recent work at the Daily Caller also includes reports such as Obama enacts semi-amnesty for Hispanic vote and Republicans ridicule Obama's 'shocking claim.'

Was Munro Doing His Job Or Just Heckling?

This is the question on viewers' minds after seeing the President's speech on immigration. After the interruption incident occurred, the Daily Caller's official Twitter account posted: We are very proud of @Neil MunroDC for doing his job. While the President was speaking, Munro shouted, Why'd you favor foreigners over Americans? to which President Obama replied Excuse me, sir, but it's not the time for questions. Munro continued by saying, Are you going to take questions? which prompted the President to respond somewhat angrily, Not while I'm speaking. Munro said he thought the President was wrapping up, but others at the scene disagreed. I was two people over from Munro, CNN White House correspondent Brianna Keilar tweeted. No one thought the President was wrapping up. I give that statement a great big Cow Pie Award.
