Twitter users are taking shots at former Loveline and The Man Show host Adam Carolla after Carolla said women aren't funny.

When asked by the New York Post if he hated women, Carolla said he is forced to hire a certain number of chicks for writing positions for shows and they're always the least funniest on the writing staff.

The reason why you know more funny dudes than funny chicks is that dudes are funnier than chicks, Carolla said in the Post interview. If my daughter has a mediocre sense of humor, I'm just gonna tell her, 'Be a staff writer for a sitcom. Because they'll have to hire you, they can't really fire you, and you don't have to produce that much. It'll be awesome.'
Carolla also told the paper he wasn't worried about the reaction he would receive from his comments about women not being funny, telling the Post, I don't care.

When you're picking a basketball team, you'll take the brother over the guy with the yarmulke. Why? Because you're playing the odds. When it comes to comedy, of course there's Sarah Silverman, Tina Fey, Kathy Griffin - super-funny chicks. But if you're playing the odds? No, Carolla continued. If Joy Behar or Sherri Shepherd was a dude, they'd be off TV. They're not funny enough for dudes. What if Roseanne Barr was a dude? Think we'd know who she was? Honestly.

Carolla may have said he wasn't worried about the reaction his remarks would receive, but he may not have been able to predict the Twitter backlash the former Loveline and The Man Show host and current host of his eponymous, award-winning podcast.

Adam Carolla was trending Wednesday on Twitter, and users couldn't help but bash Carolla.

I don't take Adam Carolla saying women aren't funny seriously, tweeted Molly McAleer. He once told a caller on Loveline to eat a used tampon, y'know?

A Barack Obama parody Twitter account also jumped in the fray.

Adam Carolla says women aren't funny? Has he never heard of Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann? They're comic geniuses, the account wrote.

Lucille Ball, Betty White, and Joan Rivers walk into a Bar Mitzvah...something something...Adam Carolla. Cue applause and canned laughter, wrote user @SuSuSuDonym.

On-air FX host and podcaster Dave Holmes had a snarky post about the Twitterverse giving too much attention to Adam Carolla.

Why are we ruining our perfect not caring what Adam Carolla thinks streak? Holmes said.

Twitter user Rodrigo Haro joked that he thought Carolla's women-aren't-funny views were shaped by a former lover.

Which one of you very funny ladies broke Adam Carolla's heart??, he asked.
