Android's next operating system, known as Jelly Bean, has just been officially unveiled at Google's I/O event earlier this week. The redesigned software, which includes a new notification menu and a new lock screen among other features, will reportedly make its way to new Samsung Galaxy Nexus phones in mid-July.

However, the new operating system's build has been leaked online thanks to senior XDA developer bigxie, Android Authority reported. Owners of the Galaxy Nexus can install the build on their device by taking the following steps.

First, be sure that your Galaxy Nexus phone meets the outline requirements. To install the Jelly Bean build, Samsung Galaxy Nexus GT-19250 with unlocked bootloader and either a Clockwork Mod Recovery or TWRP Recovery is required. Then, users must download the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean build from either of the following links: Main Download Link, Mirror 1, Mirror 2, Mirror 3, Mirror 4.

Make sure that your phone's battery is charged to at least 70 percent, and back up any personal data contained on the device. Once this is all completed, it is time to install the upgraded Android software.

The first step is to copy the file bigxie_maguro_JRN84D_v2-signed.zip to the root of your phone's SD card. Then turn off your Galaxy Nexus, and reboot it into Recovery Mode. This can be done by holding down the Volume keys until the screen turns on.

Using the Volume keys, highlight Restart Recovery and select it by using the power button. Then, create a NANDroid backup of your current ROM by selecting Backup and Restore and selecting Backup on the next screen.

Now users must perform a full wipe by choosing Wipe Data/Factory Reset and confirming the action on the next screen. Then select Wipe Cache Partition and confirm this action on the next screen. After this is done, go back to the main menu and select Advanced. Then choose Wipe Dalvik Cache and once again confirm this action on the next screen.

Choose Install ZIP from SD Card to locate the previously copied file, and confirm the action on the next screen. This will flash the ROM to your phone. After installation is complete, head back to the main menu and choose Reboot System Now to restart your phone.

Performing these steps will successfully install the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean build on Samsung Galaxy Nexus devices, according to Android Authority. However, Galaxy Nexus users aren't the only ones who get to enjoy Google's upcoming smoother and slicker operating system. A leak has also allegedly surfaced online for HTC One X devices, also from the XDA developer's forum. When installing these leaked software updates, it is important to remember that since it is not an official upgrade from Google, your phone could be at risk.

However, for those who don't already own the Galaxy Nexus device, it could be tough to get your hands on one. A federal judge has just denied a request by Samsung to lift a ban on the phone in the US, reported CNET.

U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh granted Apple's request for a preliminary injunction last week, granting a motion the company had made in February that says Samsung allegedly infringed on several of its patents.

This is the second legal victory Apple has secured this week against Samsung's Android devices. Koh also declined to suspend a separate preliminary injunction request by Apple that bans the sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
