Rapper and G-Unit CEO 50 Cent has voiced his support for Frank Ocean, who recently revealed on his personal blog that the first person he ever loved was another man.

Speaking in an interview with MTV UK, 50 proclaimed flatly that anyone that has an issue with Frank Ocean is an idiot. He went on to praise the R&B singer whose new album, channel ORANGE, has received widespread critical acclaim despite any potential controversy surrounding his perceived coming out, saying, Frank Ocean is a talented artist, I think he's created material that made me know his name, that impressed me, with things he said on a song like 'Novacane.'

Like many rappers and musicians working in a genre notorious for its sexism and misogyny, 50 Cent has often appeared far less empathetic when commenting on anything related to gay people. Shortly after a number of gay youth suicides attracted national attention in 2010, 50 tweeted, If you a man and your over 25 and you don't eat pu**y just kill your self damn it. The world will be a better place. Lol. Later that year, he added I had my homie shoot up a gay wedding in response to an insult by Perez Hilton.

More recently, however, the rapper has evolved his views somewhat. In response to President Barack Obama's support of gay marriage, 50 Cent said simply: I'm for it! Never mind that other high profile rappers like, say, Jay-Z and T.I., had already given their stamp of approval to the president, Curtis himself was finally jumping on the bandwagon.

Still, fitting with 50 Cent's endless goal to get rich (and stay rich, for that matter) or die tryin', the 37-year old rapper has been frank about the financial motivation for his newfound tolerance. Speaking last year in an interview with Miss Info, he noted the clout of the LGBT market:

50 Cent: They can say what they want about it, but...how about if you say I don't care? Who is to judge you when there's an audience that's probably one of the strongest audiences-if you look at Lady Gaga's career-that says that that's fine?

Miss Info: And you will look crazy if you say that it's not fine.

50 Cent: No, if you say that it's not fine you're gonna get attacked. You're gonna write apology notices.

Commenting on the timing of Ocean's announcement, which came just before channel ORANGE was released, 50 concluded that the move could be revolutionary. Yet he remained undecided on its future implications. The results of how popular the music becomes now would say how cool or uncool it is to being open, he said, so I'm sure the gay community will go out and support Frank Ocean. They have to. Because the more successful that project is now is going to leave people in a position to say, look, I'm gay.

So far, it seems to have worked out for Ocean, whose album opened at No. 2 on Billboard's top 200 earlier this month.
