Rumors have begun to surface that Android Jelly Bean will be released for Samsung's Galaxy S3 in the near future. On Friday SamMobile reported that the company had begun testing the new operating system on its S2 and S3 devices, and now a photo has surfaced.

Tech blog Gadget Help Line has posted an image of what is said to be the Jelly Bean update on the Galaxy S3. The image shows the Samsung smartphone's web browser, with thumbnails of different tabs that are open. Eight different pages are viewable in the photo, with two vertical columns of four displaying each website.

Ice Cream Sandwich allows users to open 16 tabs at once, so hopefully Jelly Bean users will be able to do the same. There are also five visible icons on the bottom of the screen which seem to serve basic functions, such as making phone calls, SMS messaging, etc.

But before jumping to Jelly Bean, some devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will get an Ice Cream Sandwich update. According to GottaBeMobile, an upgrade for this operating system known as IMM76Q surfaced for the Verizon variant of the device.

However, as Adam Mills of the website writes, it could be a long while before Verizon Galaxy Nexus owners actually see this upgrade.

If history repeats itself, it could be weeks, even months before we see Verizon release this update to owners of the Nexus device which could mean that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean roll out for the Galaxy Nexus could be weeks and months behind that, he writes.

Recently it has been confirmed that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will come to HTC's One X, One S and One XL and Asus' Transformer Prime and Transformer Pads (TF300 and TF700). It has just been revealed on Wednesday that the Nexus S phone will get the highly-anticipated update.

We started rolling out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, to Nexus S phones on a number of carriers with more to come. Enjoy, Google posted on Twitter according to TG Daily.

Earlier in July Google officially announced that Jelly Bean would roll out to its Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ devices, which means that those who own the Evolved High Speed Packet Access variant of the device will be able to run the upgrade. HSPA smartphones run on 4G connectivity, which is a major bump from existing 3G networks and allows speeds up to 21Mbps.

Notable features to come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean include the following:

- A smoother interface known as Project Butter

- Android Beam which lets users instantly share content via NFC by tapping devices to another compatible device

- A revamped notification system in which users can respond to certain alerts directly from the notification tray

- A new and improved keyboard

- Google Now, which learns one's regular behavior on the device and provides information before a user searches for it.

Of course, until Samsung officially announces the launch, there is no way to tell if this image of Android 4.1 on the Galaxy S3 is accurate. But if the rumors are true and the OS is in the testing phase, it may not be too far off.
