According to Kotaku, "Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" content season will be coming to a close in September. This paves the way for the release of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2," due for release on Nov. 13.

"Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" will see staggered releases of DLC, the first hitting in August, dubbed the "Chaos Pack." September will finish the content off with the aptly named "Final Assault" DLC pack.

Preorders for "Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2" are already eclipsing previous entries in terms of sales. "Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2" is being written by David Goyer ("The Dark Knight"), and will feature music by Oscar winner Trent Reznor ("The Social Network").

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" launched in November, and has sold more than 6.5 million copies on its first day of sales, eclipsing the original "Call of Duty: Black Ops," which sold around 5.6 million copies in its first 24 hours of release.

The "Call of Duty" series has become ubiquitous with the word blockbuster, as each title seems bigger and more bombastic than the last. Interestingly, "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" took a slightly different approach to the traditional over-the-top action usually depicted in Activision's titan of gaming revenue. The story was a bit more contained than previous entries, with the narrative of the "Modern Warfare" story arc coming to a close.

The series is also known to attract high-profile talent like Gary Oldman ("The Dark Knight Rises"), Ice Cube ("Friday"), Sam Worthington ("Avatar"), Ed Harris ("A History of Violence") and Timothy Olyphant (TV's "Justified").
